New Technology
The Draeger Regard 7000 is an innovative controller with brand new technology. Traditional controllers rely on PLC based designs, and those PLC’s need programming both when they are set up and configured, and then every time there’s a change. Those PLC’s also are not fail safe, if the PLC goes down for any reason, the whole system goes down. With the Draeger Regard 7000, it’s a modular system. Every component is a module on the system, and every module has its own power supply. So if a module fails you might lose capability from whatever that module does, but the rest of the system continues running. The modules are hot swappable so the system does not need to be powered down to replace a module.
No Programming Required
From a programming perspective, there is no programming required it’s all configuration. The Regard 7000 has a touch screen and a non-programmer can use the touch screen to drill down to each point of the system, configure the point, click okay, and it’s set up. There’s an even more automated configuration option called HART Tunneling. If a Draeger transmitter with HART communications is wired to a Regard 7000 the controller automatically recognizes everything about that transmitter: the sensor, the serial number, the default alarms, etc. If you want to set those up as a detection point with all the defaults, you simply click okay, assign the channel, and it’s configured. The system also generates documentation; initial commissioning documentation, and all subsequent change documentation. Additionally, we’re introducing a Regard 7000F that is approved for both gas and fire detection, so it’s the first controller that has the capability from an approval perspective to combine fire, flame and gas detection.
