The Draeger Polytron 6100 is a wireless transmitter for the detection of oxygen and toxic gases. It utilizes Draeger’s patented electrochemical sensors so it has all of the advantages of Draeger sensor technology that customers have seen in our wired transmitters. Core advantages are performance: the Draeger sensors last two or three times longer than every other manufacturer’s electrochemical sensors because of the patented technology. Our oxygen sensor for example lasts five to ten years with a three-year warranty; our competitor’s oxygen sensors typically only last twelve to fifteen months. Our detection limits are better than our competitors, our performance is better, temperature ranges are better, and our electrochemical sensors require less maintenance in terms of calibration.
The wireless transmitter is unique because it’s completely wireless. There’s no hardwire power required to the transmitter or to the wireless component, everything runs from a battery, and the battery will run both the wireless and the transmitter for a minimum of two years. The battery can also be hot swapped, so the system does not need to be taken out of the service for a sensor or a battery to be changed. It’s also a SIL2 compliant transmitter so it has a very high level of uptime and reliability, based on NET SIL2 rating.
